Reaching back in time to spark conversations with Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven and her work

bRead More HERErings elemental traces of the radical art, poetry and personage of Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven (1874-1927) into conversation with the work of eight contemporary artists. Reaching back a century, this exhibition positions Freytag-Loringhoven as a conduit for exploring embodied ways of making art in the present.

RiaLinks Meetups in galleries in and around Ottawa have been thoroughly enjoyed over the last couple of months. It is a great way to get away from our screens and see some real-life art and real-life people.

Fiona Wright, the public art coordinator at CUAG, gave us a tour of the exhibition and stayed for a discussion after the viewing. Ria Links appreciates Fiona's input and CUAG's generous hospitality.

And here's a bit of nostalgia: a picture of RIA's 2019 BYOA show, DaDa Dinges, which happened a long time ago, January 1 - 27, 2019. Here, many of us got acquainted with Baroness Elsa, who was impersonated by Freida Hjartarson.

Here she is in the picture on the left. Svetlana Swinimer and Joyce Westrop were having a good time as well. The picture was taken by Sylvia Klein.
