Ria Links Artists for Systems Change wants to connect artists with activists through this exhibition.  We need to hear stories from artists such as Daniel, who is an activist clearly focused on direct local action. Please have a look at his memoir, Art, Anthropology, and Activism. https://www.artivismcan.net/,  which includes quite a bit of his art from his earlier days. Yet far from insular, Daniel’s interests and actions reach beyond our city to national and international Climate Justice. On the same site, you will find videos and albums from his years of travel as an anthropologist. He still maintains personal connections and provides support to some of the people and causes in faraway places such as Bangladesh and Burkina Faso.

Daniel writes:
My talk will outline some of the critical threats to greenspace in Ottawa, and make the connections to developer influence, administrative incompetence, and the urgent need to change the composition and orientation of Ottawa’s City Council. I will also show what direct action can do in your own neighbourhood, highlighting depaving initiatives, trees planting, and pollinator gardens as ways to open up new greenspace and create a refuge for biodiversity.
